ND AG worried by drug crime increase in oil patch

North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says his office is worried by the increase in drug crimes in the state's oil patch.

In a discussion on efforts to reduce drug use in the oil patch, Stenehjem said that when North Dakota's crime statistics for last year are released July 30, "it's not going to be good."

The discussion included U.S. Sens. Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven of North Dakota, Sen. Jon Tester of Montana, and the nation's top drug control officer, Richard Gil Kerlikowske of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Law enforcement, education and other officials also attended.

The Forum newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/18uHrLl ) that officials generally agreed the largest issue plaguing North Dakota is a lack of law enforcement resources.
